I had been inside and on the computer way too much getting the Keyes Gallery show ready. Looked up and saw a beautiful soupy pink sunset starting to happen. Wasn’t planning to paint as I was behind on deadlines, but I had to get out. Started small as I arrived late after checking several other nearby locations where I thought it would be good. None worked until I came here. Got stuck, kept going, realized it was a wasted effort. Not worth the panel. Moments left before the darkness was fully closing the curtains on one more drop dead gorgeous and not translatable fiery sunset. Knowing it was hopeless, I began a fast and very loose radical rethink. Worked into the quiet of the very last light. Not hoping. Just immersed.
